Client:

Private Domestic Client

RIBA Stages:

4 (Technical Design)

Description:

The client came to us having successfully received planning permission for the replacement of their existing house with a new pair of modern semi-detached 3 storey dwellings with traditional aesthetics. Even though the project already had planning permission it still represented a great opportunity for us to further develop and refine the design, whilst creating a thorough set of technical drawings for construction purposes.

Spread across three floors the pair of dwellings acted as an identical mirror of each other, both including large open plan kitchen, living, dining spaces opening onto the garden, separate living rooms, utility room with side access, garden facing master bedroom with en-suite, four double bedrooms, family bathroom and additional shower room. A large pyramid skylight acts as the main feature over the rear open plan space, which along with wide bi-fold doors flush with the garden, create a real sense of connection between the internal spaces, garden and woodland beyond.

Although the external appearance had been agreed during the planning stages great effort was taken to ensure the correct external materials would be specified to ensure a cohesive and high quality finish across all elevations. Careful technical design was undertaken to ensure the brick detailing, stone arched front door and angled bay window could all be correctly realised during construction, resulting in a pair of dwellings truly displaying the considered features sought by the client.
